NUKE 6.1 has many great new features and enhancements:
ULTIMATTE KEYER
NUKE 6.1 adds Ultimatte to the list of keying tools available to artists.
Artists now have have access to all the industry standard keyers, Primatte, Keylight and Ultimatte as well as NUKE's own powerful IBK.
3D WORKFLOW AND INTERACTION
3D snapping & selection, all user extendable with Python
The 3D system inside NUKE now allows you to select any 3D object, or 3D points in the viewer and add 3D objects to them, including cameras and lights. This makes setting up cards to attach to geometry and moving objects around easy and fast.
FBX EXPORT (cameras, point cloud, lights, axis, geometry)
In addition to FBX input, NUKE now has FBX export, enabling a simple full 3D round trip to and from your 3D applications. Cameras, point clouds, axis and geometry are fully supported along with stereo.
INTERACTIVE VIEWING THROUGH CAMERA (camera & light positioning and orientation)
You can now set the camera position and animation as you look through the camera view. This greatly simplifies workflow.
GET/SET LOCAL AND WORLD TRANSFORM 4x4 MATRIX ON 3D OPERATORS
Access to the full 3D transformation matrix is now available on 3D operators. This allows the artist to set the 3D transformation matrix via an expression, through python or via the UI. For example the artist can link the camera position to camera metadata obtained from or embedded in an exr 3D render.
RED 3.1 UPGRADE
NUKE 6.1 now supports the latest version of the RED codec for newer R3D cameras using the Mysterium X Sensor.
FRAMECYCLER PRO UPGRADE TO 2009 WITH 64 BIT SUPPORT
NUKE 6.1 includes FrameCycler Pro 2009 which includes 64 bit support to let you flip book much larger sequences. FrameCycler Pro 2009 also supports full dual stream stereo playback.
ROTOPAINT UI AND PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS
NUKE 6.1 introduces the 'Roto' only node, focused solely on Roto work. The Roto UI is tuned to Roto, while the RotoPaint node still allows a combination of Roto & Paint. The Roto & Paint system has had many performance improvements, particularly with shapes, keyframes and strokes. The workflow has also been improved with clearer display of key frames in the timeline and curve editor, a new spline key knob to easily set and remove keyframes and a better discrimination between the point transform and the group transform jacks.
RENDER TREE GENERATION OVERHAUL
Updates result in better stability overall, especially with time based operators.
OFX 1.2 SUPPORT
Adds OFX 1.2 support for developers, including access to the camera system inside Nuke for OFX tool creators.
NEW CAMERA TRACKER FEATURES – NUKEX ONLY
You can now dynamically track error statistics and bad track filtering. An enhanced stereo solver takes the NUKEX camera tracker to the next level.
