Our products are licenced in a number of ways. Click the links below for more information:
A node-locked licence is the simplest type of licence - it allows you to run the software on one specific machine, the system ID of which you supply when you purchase the software.
Use the Foundry System ID (FSID) utility to obtain the system ID to enter when making a purchase.
Once you have a nodelocked licence key, you must install it with the Foundry Licence Installer (FLI). Once the nodelocked licence is installed, you will be able to use the software.
A floating licence allows you to run a licensed copy of a product on any machine connected to the network. The floating licence resides on a machine on the network chosen to be a Licence Server. If you purchase 5 floating licences, then you can run 5 copies of the software concurrently.
When purchasing floating licences, you must give the system ID of the machine you have chosen to be the licence server. Use the Foundry System ID (FSID) utility on the licence server to obtain the system ID to enter when making a purchase.
Once you have a floating licence key, you must install it with the Foundry Licence Installer (FLI). You should install the key first on the licence server machine, and at that time you will be prompted to create a client version of the floating licence, which you must install on other machines on the network that will need to use a licence.
In order to use floating licences, you will need to install the Foundry FLEXlm Tools on the Licence Server. See Managing Floating Licences to download Foundry FLEXlm Tools, and read the Foundry FLEXlm Tools User Guide for in-depth instructions on setting up floating licences.
If you have purchased software with a serial number, you need to activate it to get a licence.
In order to Activate a Serial Number, you will need to supply both the serial number and the System ID of the machine on which the software will be used. This will generate a node-locked licence which you can then install with the Foundry Licence Installer.
