The Foundry student championship

Announcing the 2016 winners

We're delighted to announce the winners of our inaugural Student Championship. With such a wonderful array of entries to choose from, it was not an easy decision. Thanks to everyone who submitted an entry or who encourgaed someone else to do so!

The winners are:

  • Alvaro Claver, an international student from Spain who is currently studying at Think Tank Training Centre in Vancouver, Canada. Alvaro's clever use of MARI brought to life his collaborative project 'Apex', based on real-world robots and toys made by another artist. See Alvaro's full entry
  • Samuel Wilkins, who is studying Visual Effects at the University of Hertfordshire in the UK.  Samuel has been honing his skills with NUKE and NUKE Non-commercial over a large number of increasingly complex projects, and hopes to get a career in compositing when he graduates. See Samuel's full video entry
  • Zhongyan Dai, who has experience as a Senior Lighting Artist in his native China, but is currently studying at Sheridan College in Toronto, Canada. His project focused around using NUKE for matte painting a scene with snow, something he doesn't get to see in his home town. See Zhongyan's full video entry

Huge congratulations to all of our winners, who'll each recieve the Production COLLECTIVE. Their work will also be showcased on our website, on social media and at industry events around the world, alongside work from celebrity artists. What better way to kickstart their careers?
